Section 01: Object record

Kristiansen Secretary Desk

An elegant and rare mid-century modern teak secretary desk and vanity with mirror by Danish designer Kai Kristiansen for Torring, Denmark.

The teak case and frame feature an upper drop-down cabinet that opens to create a writing surface. Inside are three small drawers, with the center drawer incorporating a hidden flip-up mirror that can be concealed when not in use. Two small shelves / paper dividers provide additional organization above the writing surface.

Below, three long and wide drawers provide substantial storage. The sturdy legs create the light, floating effect associated with Scandinavian Modern furniture.
