Section 01: Object record

Executive Desk

A walnut executive desk by the Standard Furniture Company of Herkimer, New York, United States, 1970s.

The desk is 60 inches wide with a broad, uninterrupted work surface and a fully finished back, so it can sit away from a wall and be approached from either side rather than being confined to facing one.

A pull-out pencil drawer sits at the center of the apron, flanked by two pull-out writing shelves that extend the usable surface when needed.

Five storage drawers run below, all on metal glides, one of them fitted for filing with dividers and measuring approximately 10 inches high by 12 inches wide. Each drawer carries a brass pull.

The walnut grain is clearly visible across the top and case.
