Section 01: Object record

Chequered Coffee Table

A beautifully designed Danish Mid-Century Modern rectangular coffee table by Arne Vodder for France & Son, dating to circa the 1960s.

The table features a distinctive chequered-pattern rectangular top that gives the otherwise clean, restrained form a strong graphic quality. The top rests above box-jointed-style legs with dovetail joinery, adding both craftsmanship and architectural detail to the sleek profile.

A maker's label is present on the underside.

Its low, elongated proportions make it an excellent coffee table for a Mid-Century Modern interior, while its versatile design also allows it to function as a low bench or plant stand. It can work beautifully in a living room, foyer, bedroom, or other modern interior.

The combination of distinctive surface pattern, refined proportions, visible joinery, and documented maker's label makes this a particularly appealing example of Danish modern furniture.
