An exceptional Danish Mid-Century Modern teak credenza designed by Arne Vodder for Sibast Møbler, dating to circa the 1960s.
This substantial and beautifully crafted sideboard combines architectural form with exceptional storage. Bands of teak run perpendicular to the primary surfaces, adding subtle visual detail to the clean-lined case.
Two beautifully grained teak tambour doors slide seamlessly into the cabinet frame when opened, allowing them to disappear from sight. Recessed carved handles maintain the clean profile of the piece. Behind the tambour doors is a finished teak interior with five adjustable shelves.
Six dovetailed solid teak drawers with felt-lined interiors provide additional storage. An additional cabinet on the right side contains two adjustable shelves.
The interior retains Vodder/Sibast manufacturer identification, including a Sibast Furniture “Made in Denmark” label/disc.
The credenza rests on recessed legs with the base supported by a solid teak perpendicular stretcher. The back is fully finished, making the piece particularly well suited to an open floor plan where it can be viewed from multiple sides rather than being restricted to placement against a wall.
With its generous proportions and extensive storage, the piece can function as a dining-room sideboard, living-room credenza, office storage piece, or media console.
Overall good original vintage condition with only minor color variation and wear consistent with age and use. The construction is strong and sturdy. The interior is clean, the cabinet doors slide smoothly, and the drawers open and close smoothly. Overall, the piece presents very well.
