Section 01: Object record

Martinsville Nightstands

A matching pair of walnut nightstands by American of Martinsville, made in the United States in the 1970s.

Each has two drawers behind a plain front, with a single metal pull set into each drawer face. The design is restrained — the interest is in the walnut and the proportions rather than in applied detail.

The drawers are dovetailed and run smoothly. Each case stands on tapered legs in solid walnut.

The maker's stamp, American of Martinsville, is present inside a drawer.

At 22 inches wide and just over 23 inches tall they are compact enough for a smaller bedroom, and work equally well flanking a sofa as end tables.

The two tables are sold together as a pair.

Sold as a matching pair. The price and delivery quote cover both tables.
