Section 01: Object record

Gondola Sofa

An exceptionally long mid-century gondola sofa with the low, sculptural profile associated with some of the era's most recognizable American modernist seating.

The frame features prominent triangular walnut front legs, an exposed walnut front rail, tapered rear legs, and dramatically angled arms complemented by custom side pillows.

A single full-length loose seat cushion emphasizes the sofa's sweeping horizontal profile, while three removable tufted back cushions provide structure and comfort.

The sofa has been newly upholstered in an off-white fabric with new high-density foam and tight webbing, giving the seating surfaces a refreshed feel while retaining the vintage walnut framework.

Its dramatic proportions and architectural silhouette make it a substantial statement piece for a larger living space.
